Hurricane Irene

I’ve lived on Long Island for my whole life. Nothing too out of the ordinary has ever happened. Earthquakes and hurricanes were almost fictional. Who knew?

What’s it going to be like? The Day After Tomorrow?

I have too many things I want to do. But I doubt I’ll die.

First signs of 2012:

1. On August 1, on the way to my dad’s office it hailed blocks of ice. It ended up cracking the windshield. My mom told me that she felt like she was in the 2012 movie.

2. An earthquake with the magnitude of 5.8 shook my room as well as my sister’s. It felt like someone was shaking their leg on my bed- awkward.

3. Hurricane Irene is blowing right through, barreling towards Long Island.

Let’s just hope Long Island doesn’t submerge under water.

I hope everyone is safe and taking the precautions needed in surviving this hurricane. Make sure you all have extra batteries, water bottles, flashlights, blankets- EVERYTHING. If you are planning on leaving the island, go before the bridges close and good luck! If you are like me and sticking through the storm, please be careful and make sure no loose items are outside. Don’t stay by the windows and turn off your gas and air conditioning, and make sure to close and lock all of your doors!
